Root Canal Therapy
Root Canal Therapy
is a procedure in which the nerve inside the tooth is removed,
and the space filled in with a rubber-like material called gutta
percha.
Small files and irrigants are used to remove the nerve and debris
and shape the canals so they can be filled effectively. The doctors
at Pacific Family Dental use a very advanced system involving
a torque controlled silent electric drill and incredibly elastic
drill-aided files to negotiate curvatures in canals. The technique
used to fill the canals is also very advanced, incorporating
a warming and compacting process that ensures a 3 dimensional
seal.
At Pacific Family Dental we go the extra mile and never
reuse our root canal files. Unlike most dental offices, we
throw away all used files after each patient, even the expensive
rotary files. This lowers your chance of a file breaking in a
canal. This practice was developed by the doctors at Pacific
Family Dental because of a core philosophy of treating each patient
as if they were part of their own family. (see The Extra Mile
for more information on the Pacific Family Dental philosophy)
