The Extra Mile

Here at Pacific Family Dental we care about your comfort and oral health. That’s why we go the extra mile to provide you the highest quality dental care available in a comfortable and caring manner. From the latest in dental care technology to creature comforts, we want your experience to be as pain-free and comfortable as possible.

Virtual Reality Movie Glasses and CD Players

Virtual reality movie glasses are available for your use during your appointment. They allow you to watch a movie in stereo as you have dental work completed. You can choose a movie from our selection or bring one of your own.

Also available are cordless CD players and nitrous oxide. The staff at Pacific Family Dental is committed to doing all they can to make your dental experience as pleasant as possible.

“The Wand” – Painless Numbing

Pain Free Numbing with the WandPain-free and fear-free dentistry is our goal. Many patients fear anesthetic syringes and to avoid them many avoid the dentist. To help reduce fear and pain we have introduced a computer controlled local anesthesia delivery system called “The Wand”.

The source of most discomfort from injections isn’t the needle. It’s the flow of the anesthetic into the tissue. Unlike traditional syringes, “The Wand” delivers anesthetic at an optimal flow rate for a comfortable injection.

The key to the pain-free anesthetic delivery is based on its ability to compensate for different tissue densities. Using a microprocessor, “The Wand” provides a controlled delivery of anesthetic at a constant pressure and volume that is typically below the threshold of pain.

Air Abrasion

Air AbrasionAir Abrasion is a gentle, drill-less technology that can frequently be used in place of or in conjunction with the drill to make procedures more comfortable, often without the need for anesthetic. Thanks to this technology, we can provide you with attractive, tooth-colored fillings faster and easier than ever before.

Air abrasion uses fine particles of Aluminum Oxide, 27 to 50 microns in diameter. The fine particles are mixed with compressed air and directed in a stream at the tooth, removing the decay. Air abrasion allows for smaller amounts of the tooth to be removed compared to a conventional drill. By removing as little tooth structure as possible, more of the healthy tooth structure remains.

Air Abrasion is not ideal for large cavities or removing silver-mercury fillings. Most cavities that are detected early can be treated immediately, without a drill and without a needle. The tooth is then restored with natural looking materials to strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure. Because air abrasion is tolerated so easily by children, fewer appointments are necessary.

Always New Root Canal Files

Root Canal FilesSmall files are used during root canal therapy to remove debris and shape the root canals. While most dental offices reuse endodontic files, we use new files for every patient. These small files endure high rotational forces during their use that can cause them to fatigue and break in the canals.

Because of the high cost of these files most dental offices reuse them, increasing the risk of a break. To reduce this risk, the doctors at Pacific Family Dental use torque controlled handpieces and new files for every patient. We take every step to ensure the best possible care for you and your family

Best Materials and the Best Labs

Best Dental Labs and TechnologyAt Pacific Family Dental we go to great lengths to keep ourselves informed of the best dental materials through third party material research and through continuing education. We also search out the best dental labs to provide the best indirect restorations for our patients. The quality of our work is often judged by the quality provided by the dental labs we use, so we insist on only the best.

Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral CamerasIntraoral cameras record digital pictures of your teeth, aiding in diagnosis and communication. During a consultation you can see what the doctor sees and better understand your oral condition, discuss it with the doctor, and make decisions together.

Intraoral pictures are also invaluable in communicating with insurance companies that attempt to withhold coverage for needed treatment.

New but Proven Technologies and Techniques

Ultimate Dental CareDr. Doyel, Dr. Aanderud and Dr. King continually evaluate new technologies and techniques and incorporate those that truly benefit their patients.

Recent additions have been Lumineers, Zoom! Whitening, digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, rotary nickel-titanium root canal therapy, all ceramic implant abutments, air abrasion, self etching adhesives, soft tissue lasers, zirconium core crowns, and paperless charts.

The media often celebrates the latest and greatest and it is difficult to wade through the hype. If you have questions about current or new technology, most likely Dr. Doyel and Dr. Aanderud can help you get answers.
